WHAT IS WELLNESS?
Wellness is the act of practicing healthy habits on a daily basis to attain better physical and mental health outcomes, so that instead of just surviving, you’re thriving.
Wellness is composed of eight important dimensions and each of them has a significant impact on living a well-rounded and balanced lifestyle.
THE WELLNESS WHEEL
Think of wellness as meaning being healthy in many dimensions of our lives. That includes the emotional, spiritual, intellectual, physical, environmental, financial, occupational, and social parts. These dimensions are interconnected, one dimension building on another.

WELLNESS IS MULTIDIMENSIONAL
It is important to foster each dimension of wellness to live a balanced and satisfying life. Since each dimension of wellness is interconnected with one another, we must not neglect any one dimension as it can have adverse effects on our overall health. The goal of our fair is to help you learn more about our wellness offerings and provide resources to help you optimize your health and well-being through the eight dimensions of wellness.
THE WELLNESS CONTINUUM
Wellness can be seen as a continuum from illness to optimal well-being. On one end, healthcare addresses illness reactively through treatment. On the other end, wellness focuses on proactive prevention and enhancing vitality through healthy lifestyles. Unlike healthcare’s reactive approach, wellness is proactive and centered on prevention and self-responsibility. A strong wellness foundation helps prevent and manage disease effectively, both at present and in the future.
*The continuum concept is adapted from Dr. Jack Travis’ Illness-Wellness Continuum.
